I have 4 plants in this my second grow, first grow used 400w Hps for all growth stages, This grow i started with the Mh, and have been on a 24/24 cycle for two weeks now. I've noticed that, although thier "short & stocky" they def. grew faster & taller with Hps (400w) on a 24/24 cycle. Would it hurt the plant to say..do 11 3/4 on the Mh and then 11 3/4 on the Hps , would the benifit the plant in any way or would it just be a waste of my time? One day Mh, One day Hps. in the vegg. stage. In flowering i would just use the Hps on a 12/12 cycle.

Since you have (1) HPS and (1) MH bulb, Use the MH for Veg and HPS for flowering. If you want blue(which I suggest) go get a ceramic metal hallide bulb and you will get the full spectrum and you will eliminate both the MH and the HPS altogether.

I think it WOULD NOT be a waste of your time. I'd love to see some others chime in here, but i see you have people doing everything but answer the question.

Veg your plants with MH. You'll end up with more lush growth and tighter node spacing.. Save your HPS for flowering.

HPS will keep your plants smaller and bushier with more nodes and much faster vegging if yo use the right bulb and use it well.

what are you talking about even if you have a HPS with enhanced blue spectrum the MH will still be better for growth in veg and if hes already got HPS and MH why are you trying to get him to go with just the HPS. HPS will cause streach witch you dont want in veg, you want compact plants not necessarily short, but tight node spaceing this means more bud sites witch means more bud
I have posted a link to this already and the grower/s can use any method they think is best and i was only giving my opinion on how i do things. Thats all and as i said HPS (multi spectrum/conversion bulb) run 24/0 when vegging (with the lamp height right) will keep the plants small and bushy with lots of nodes and NO stretch. Its up to the individual grower to decide whats best or what choice of lamp to use but its HPS all the way for me.

my bad sir smoker i dindt cheack your link i thought you were just confused i had some noob arguing they other day that HPS is for veg MH is for flower so i hoped on this quick lol but i think ill try out your method with my hortilux on a few of my plants see how it compares, since you got some nice tight bud with that method

No problem and thanks very much. I stick arrows on my links as they can be missed easily due to their colour.
Do 2 weeks of 24/0 and then switch to 18/6 for the stretch (another 2 weeks) then 12/12 and you will be very surprised at the results.

(good luck).

why not use both of them all the time??
this guy here. if you got the ability running the full spectrum is the best solution. most people don't just because its not efficeint but common since say a full spectrum is always a better solution.
