All,
I'm currently trying to downsize from a 6'x6' veggie @ 1000W MHS and 8'x12' flower @ 2000W HPS.
I've been going through a long and arduous task of completely automating my patient's grow (minus nute changes and trims). Over the years, we've suffered through heat issues, spider mites, vacations.. you name it... it's taken our plants out.
Switching the plants from one room to the next can be extremely difficult for a disabled person (many have been lost simply to drops/trips/etc). My setup would allow them to leave the plant in one place for the entire grow, changing only the setting on a smart plug to switch the light timing (all done through an app on their phone).
The worst is probably the $$$ we are putting out in electricity each month. Sometimes there's only 1 plant under 1000W of light.
I'd like to start growing the plants in 16"x16"x48" grow boxes (possibly kid/school lockers, after my initial prototype). One plant per box. 3 gallon bucket, leaving 37.5" of grow space before the light is added. Only the boxes with plants would need to use electricity.
Each box currently has about 30cfm-45cfm exhaust which will probably come down when i install carbon filters.
I've been looking at piecing together the following parts to make a light for each box.
CLU048-1812C4-402H7M5-F1 - 4000K COB LED Version 6 (2-Step) CRI 97+ Drive Current (1080 - 2760)mA, 51.1V typ, LES 22mm
HBG-60-1050 - LED Driver (CC) 60W 1050mA Linear (37-55Vdc) 90-295Vac PFC Non-Dimming
MODULED GIGA 15220-B Modular LED star heat sink, ø152mm, H 20mm, Black anodize
I planned to use the Ideal Holder and Adapter with the Angelina Spot reflector. By my calculations, my light will be just under 5" tall, leaving me with approximately 32" of grow space (final). I went with the wide and short heat sink to save vertical space (over 3" in savings vs. 80mm tall).
I've chosen the 4k COB with a CRI of 97+ due to the spectrum output. This particular COB peaks (100%) at both 455nm and 630nm, which to my eyes, appears to be the best fit for both veg and flower.
I wanted to keep the COB cool, but do I have too much ventilation for such a small area (6.25 cu ft)? Especially if I need to keep the temperature up inside each box (due to the lack of IR)? Would I be able to potentially add an IR LED to my setup (if yes, which one)? Should I just turn the box over (it has no floor/ceiling yet) and put the fans at the bottom to pull the heat down through the box?
Is that enough light for the space? Did I make reasonable assumptions on the 4k chip, or should I really be looking at a 3.5k?
I'd like to thank you for any help, in advance. I've been researching this for weeks. I've changed my mind on the COB/Driver/Heat Sink combo 20x now. I've got analysis paralysis and could really use some help so I can pull the trigger and make some purchases.
Thanks.
