t12 vs. t5HO question

I'm hoping to get some advice about my predicament. I was just about to buy a 8 bulb 4' t5ho fixture to use for vegging when I was given a shitload of t12 fixtures w/bulbs. So what would you guys do? Proceed with the t5ho purchase or use the free t12's? I have 15 4' two bulb fixtures at my disposal.

Im no pro but if just for veg go with the free t12s just keep them close.I vegged with t5 for first time this grow and loved them.

Yeah I'll probably use them for at least a couple of grows. Seeing as I was going to veg with an 8 bulb t5ho setup, do you think using 16 t12's would be equal to the t5's?

T5 all the way. More efficient, and way better light. Blow tho sold T12's off.

Ha ha yeah im definitely a broke ass. Lucky for me my pops being a hoarder paid off for once! I have almost everything cept nutes and a light for flower to get started. I will be going with a stinkbud/superstoner setup and probably some hempy buckets to keep some mommas.

Did you think about selling the t12s? where I'm located I could sell them and recoup enough money for the t5s, or even a cheap 400w hps. Just an idea, I'm getting close to using a 4' 8 bulb t5 setup with veg lights. Then we'll they are in veg, I'll be able to slowly buy a better spectrum bulb for flowering. I'm also going to be trying a similar modified Stinkbud system.

Look at the color of the tubes in the t12 fixtures, A lot of free t12's that you'll get your hands on have 4100k's in them. They work, but 2700k or 6500k is more suitable for growing plants. I have plenty of experience growing with t12's though, and they aren't terrible. You just need to keep them real close. Try to be as conservative with your light as you can, using reflective materials.

I don't think I'd have any luck trying to sell them. They work but they look shitty. Plus looking at craigslist and similar sites the demand for lighting is non existent in my area. The lights were a 4100k but I have a box of 6500k so its all good. Yeah bomixius I have the same plan. I'm starting from seed so by the time I'm ready to flower I'll have 1-2 600w hps setups. After thinking about it I'm probably going to use my t5 money for a cheap/simple co2 regulator.
