I recently ordered a set of new spectralux bulbs for my T5. I had two of the originals and 2 of the new ones on there. The original bulbs lasted almost 2 years of moderate use, plus survived several cross state moves and lots of general abuse.
The new ones have only been in use for about a month and they have both died, along with one more of the originals. I did note that the new ones were 'very high output' at 94 (or 96W, one of the two). The OGs were 54W. Its a sun blaze T5, and it does appear to say 54W on the side... so that probably answers my question
Questions:
1) The VHO ones didn't seem a ny brighter when used... woudl they just run at the 54W level?
2) All seemed to work but could a mismatch in the output ratings cause the lifespan to shorten? Can my T5 handle the VHO bulbs, and are they worth using?
3) More general question - for primarily vegging, should I use 3000K or 6500K?
