T5 question.............

you mean to power the light?

i think so, but who knows. that is one of the advantages they use to market them. you can get a meter that plugs into your lights and it will tell you how much you use in a $ amount. you have to enter a few #'s from your bill to get a actual $.

but for a moment throw all that out the window. think of it this way. HPS you need. a hood, ventilation for the hood, and sometimes exhaust for the room. not to mention isolating fans. with the t5s i use, all i have is the lights.

i usually flower under 1000w hps. i sort of got ahead of myself this time. i have 2 under the HPS day 25 of flower, and i have 8 under the t5s that just flipped to flower 5 or so days ago. (2' 8 bulb 6500kea at 192w $175) i have seed from nirvana that i want to start, so the 8 will probably go to harvest under the T5s.

a comparisons between yields from T5s vs HPS per watt?
that would be a question i like someone to answer, or share there experience.

give me about 60 days and i can share what i learned.

I would think you get denser buds with the HPS. But as for vegging with the T5 i think im going to go that route instead of a Metal Halide. So i plan on vegging with the T5 and for flowering switching to the HPS.

Where did you get your T5 from?

-Hank.

local hydro store. 2' 4 bulb $139 new, 2' 8bulb $175 used. each bulb is 24w you can get different bulbs for different light spectrum's. you useing t5s now?

i have used them for veg for little less than a year. no problems aside from some mutation when they get to close to the lights. were talking grown up in the lights. the leaves kind of swirl, its crazy looking.

Im not using T5's at the moment but will be at the beginning of the new year. I already have the HPS on hand:-) Might as well try em.

T5 are the shit for veg love min.....i use them for veg and then swap in the 2700k bulbs for flower and switch on the HPS

I clone with T8s and they do a great job at $29 for 4foot 2 lamp systems. T5s advertise that they are more efficient, but hey at what initial outlay? I've tried vegging with the T8 and they do alright although I prefer MH.
