Tap ppm acceptable

so I’ve been using RO water to feed my plants because I figured my city tap water would be horrible , so I decided to check my tap water and it comes out 44 ppm and 5.8 ph is this water ok to use as long as I increase the ph ? And is it just ppm and ph I have to worry about when feeding my plants cause my filter gets clogged when I use my RO system a lot and I have to have someone come out and change filters which is free I’ve been using this RO system for a while,way before I even started growing cause I want good water for my kids
 
The tap water is fine. Mine is between 40-65 PPM consistently.

Always check your pH of the water, and your water/nutrient mix, after you've added in the nutrients.

If you're using coco or peat, you'll want Calcium and Magnesium supplements (Cal-Mag is one).

That's irrelevant.

The amount of Chlorine in drinking water is perfectly safe for the plants as much as it is humans. Also, most locales use Chloramine instead of, or in addition to Chlorine, and that doesn't evaporate like Chlorine, so leaving tap water out nowadays typically does nothing.

Very true. Its very likely it's safe to use, but if he did so and the ppms drop it may give him peace of mind it's ok to use. And there are still municipalities that still use old fashioned chlorine. Not many, but a few.
 
That chloramine will crash your fish tank cycle.

Don't seem to hurt the plants though.

Really check out the water after it's been off for work, I've lost fish...

They use both chlorine and chloramine here in Portland and they also add sodium hydroxide to adjust the pH. I've been using water straight from the tap for decades.

I'm just glad they don't fluoridate the water here. There is no reason to put that crap in drinking water. It's not like chlorine and chloramine that disinfect the water and keep it safe to drink. I don't care about someone that is too ignorant to brush their teeth getting tooth decay and if parents don't make sure their kids brush their teeth then they deserve the dental bills they get.

I hear ya. My laughing response was for your rant comment. I agree with everything you said. No malice intended.
 
ok so just to double check watevers clogging my filter won’t bother the plants right as long as my ph and ppm come out fine? And I appreciate everybody taking time to jump on this subject so thank u
 
A lot of water plants don’t use chlorine anymore they use chlorimine it’s not a gas like chlorine was it’s a solid doesn’t matter how long you leave it out it’ll still be in there
 
Just bite the bullet and get a ro filter I picked mine up for US$150 my P PMs are 3-5 now looks intimidating but it’s extremely easy to hook up

Let’s not mention about fluoride being used in the drinking water in Nazi POW camps.

Because at high enough concentrations it makes you docile and compliant.
