Tap water in San Diego, CA?

is the tap water in san diego fine to use for a hydroponic DWC? if not, what alternative do you suggest?

Go to the website for your water provider. Dig around and find the water quality information. It is public information. If it isn't on the website, call them and ask them where to find it.

The info they provide will give you chlorine, metals, solids, E.coli or Fecal Coliform.

OR make ice with it, add ice to a glass of water. When it is melted - do you see flakes of solids floating around the bottom?

Its the solids (calcium and such) in your water. That's why filtration is so important.
