i bought a tattoo kit and i did this on my calf last night.
I cant see the pic fer some reason, ah well i'll check back in later to see if it pops up...
Anyhoo, not meaning to rag but...have you got an autoclave etc with your kit? are you a trained or apprenticing tattooist?
cuz if not youre standing a good chance of giving your self Hepatitis along with numerous other potential infections..Most tattooists (myself included) will still even re-sterilize any needles we buy that are labelled as "pre-sterilized"..same goes for ink tubes etc..Do you know how to set the 'throw action' of a tattoo machine and set it up for lining and then change to shading?? or have you bought seperate machines for both??
I wish you all the best luck in the world if tattooing is what you want to get into, but firstly its a tough game to get into...especially as tattooing is now seen as a cool job to get into, cuz of shows like miami ink etc.. Secondly if you do get an apprenticeship in a reputable shop, you would not be tattooing until you know ALOT about needle grouping, setting up your machines,bio-hazards,skin types, sterilization techniques, tattooing techniques, legal issues(if you ever get caught tattooing under age persons in court it is classed as CHILD ABUSE etc..)
then you would prolly be allowed to tattoo yourself/any friends who are up for it..
I wouldnt let anyone near a paying customer until theyve got it down pat..cuz i dont want my name being dirtied up by having customers who are scarred/get infections or get ink that they and YOU as a tattooist are not happy with.
If you are looking to get into a studio to apprentice... I have one suggestion that will help you greatly...be patient,Draw, draw and draw some more..If you have a particular artistic style, try to hone it... Then draw up as many sets of flash sheets that you can. Take your flash, sketch books/paintings etc to a studio and show them your skills...If youre cut out for tattooing or if they feel like you might have something to offer..you WILL get the job.
Sorry if this has hijacked your thread, but i'm more concerned about you not getting
A) sued for infecting someone while tattooining at home or wherever.
B) infecting yourself if you accidentally prick yourself
C) not scarring people by using badly hooked up machines etc
Do it right and youll have one of the most enjoyable professions in the world.
Ps..I Like the idea of seeing ppls ink on here...but i for one wont be posting pics.. Its too easy for the cops to match them up if you get busted...might aswell post a pic of my face in there too..Does this make sense??lol i'm tired..time for caffeine..
Go steady bro n good luck.
