Telescopes

i guess u can say im an amature astronomer, well i know the stars, near galaxys and nublas, as well as being fascinated by cosmic chemistry. ive had a telescope be4 but it was nothing special, just a small refractor that could barely focus on planetary objects and newtonian felector with the same problem. but now that i have some disposable income i want to spark up my old hobby. looking into one of those click to go to telescopes, possibly a celestron or meade- i like quality products. the click to go are nice these days bc it solves that horrid problem of centering and tracking these far away objects. ive been looking into those schmidt cassegrains but maybe a quality dobsonian could work as well. ive seen those celestron ones for ~650 which isnt too bad, but have herd mixed reviews on the power they give you (most people say they invest an extra 200 on barlows and what not). i want this to a be a one time purchase so i might go big and get the 8in bc i herd they have a better resoloution for those distant clusters and what not. any amature astronmers out there who want to lend a brother a hand?

yea i live in an area that doesnt have the worst light polloution but it is no way pitch dark. visited az last winter (in the boonies) and damn those were some sexy skys, gotta love seeing that milkyway and those big blue giants slightly pulsating in the desert sky. if ur in the stick ive been told even binoculars are all you really need for some star gazing.

Even the cheapy department store models will give you an unbeleivable view of the moon several other planets and lots of stars...Takes some patience and reading of the manual that comes with it.

My kids got me this for Xmas a few years ago and I love it:

Oh i did invest in a great pair of binoculars since i boat, even splurged on the polarized ones lol, ya i have used them but compared to a scope they suck lol and it's pitch black in my neck of the woods, The Ontario science center has a decent planitarium, i've been multiple times in my childhood and teens, I should make an adult visit with mon amour, guaranted i would have an entire new respect for the stars that shine so bright

I've wanted to buy a nice telescope for so long, but my back yard is all trees. Of course the driveway would be perfect but I live around a bunch of 16-19 year old and I don't like being called a faggot in my own driveway.
