I kinda needed help on figuring out the pros and cons of the two . That way I know I'm making a good decision on which one I choose. Grow tent using hydroponics or a box using hydroponics. All opinions welcom.. Help

Tents are usually equipped with more duct holes and odds and ends to achieve how you want to set things up a little easier. And can be taken apart and put in a box. I'd go with a tent.

It'll smell using either, you'll need a carbon filter and fan to get rid of smells. I don't have much experience using grow boxes but I've seen them in action and feel a tent is best, but maybe someone else with experience on the grow boxes can chime in

I've wasted so much time and effort building boxes and cabinets. Looking back I can see how much time and money I would have saved just by using a tent. They're set up perfectly for growing, as that is their purpose. Gorilla makes great, but expensive tents. SecretJardin also has some very high quality tents. But if you don't need the Cadillac of tents, Apollo Horticulture makes good middle of the road tents.

This one for example:

Here are a couple differences BTW:
Cabinets:
Pros:
  • you can build it any size and shape
  • You can make it as high as you want
  • You can put as many holes as you want in the exact places you want
  • Very sturdy
Cons:
  • pain to build
  • can be expensive if you want one that's of quality build
  • look ugly
  • not portable
  • more permanent
  • not easily scaleable
Tents:
Pros:
  • easy to assemble/disassemble
  • easy to move
  • lightweight
  • already sealed (depending on quality)
  • already lightproof (again...)
  • ports are already in place
  • easy to upgrade
  • They look better
Cons:
  • You get what you pay for, so the more sealed and lightproof, the more $$$
  • Not as sturdy as a cabinet
  • Limited by height, unless you get an expensive Gorilla
Can't think of anything else right now. But I hope that helped.
