Tent vs Build room

Hey guys,

I consider myself a master grower and have only used purpose built rooms to this day. I am going to build another room and am wondering if a couple of tents could do the trick. I want to know what the downfalls are of the tents and also the pluses. It would save much time and also be able to be moved if needed. I am thinking 2 10x10s or 2 12x12s. 4 1ks in each.

Let me know what you think

Thanks

i always grew in a room myself (sealed). I'm about to have my first grow in a 8x8 x8 tent. will start with 3x1k lights in flower, 1 600w mh, and a T5 for veg. I plan on posting my progress... 6 days and counting to the move!! bongsmilie

Either way I'd do flip rooms.Tents will make it that much easier IMO though.

Pro's of tents:
Cheap
Easy to setup and tear down than a built room

Pro's of built rooms:
Dimensions are pretty much yours to decide

Actually I am going to keep them on the same rotation so that all the work comes at once. I am wondering if I can get the same yield out of the tent. It seems like it should be the same but there is something about a tent that makes me think.

What do you think?

Do not own the house.
Will stay there for at lease 5 years.
Yes I can modify.

With that being said I have been told that environmental control is easier with a tent although my rooms are very controlled. I just want ease of preparation and = to or greater than yield.

I use tents and have for like last 8 years. Things I like is if you use co2 you can save and not use or waste extra. If you get tents get the kind you can open each side to give access to plants at all sides. Its easy to cool tents with a simple mobile ac. Air exchanges are nice as you can just pull out thru a filter into a room then for extra care have a scrubber in the room to clean up and extra smells so no need to vent out the house better security. You can put the tents on platforms with wheels and move them around as needed . A tent can be made to look like clothes storage in a pinch unlike an entire room modded to grow in.It can be a preference. I found I build a 2 story shed thats 16 by 16 but went with 4 4x8 tents and 2 4x4 tents on each floor for veg and clones. This allows me to cycle and do multiple strains easily while helping make odor and heat control simple.

My first time in a tent too, and, the idea of being able to take in down without a trace in a couple hours, and move it elsewhere is excellent, as long as there is a decent power supply you can be up and running elsewhere within a dark cycle ;)

well that helps answering those

look at the total cost to total production ( do not know if u off set cost by helping others)

a tentbig one correct set up run u about 800 to 1000 .....no co gen or tank included hyrdo 1000 soil 800

a room 1500 to 2500.....this including ducting fans lights locks co2 and a hydro for 2500...1000 is soil with that stuff

if u have the cash....i say 5x5x6.8 2 of them one veg one flower .....the outside use for seedlings and clones (maybe one of those 60 buck jump start clone systems

if u get a strong fan 400cfm u should use that plus like 2 boosters and that will take care of the exhust need carbon filter if u get a inline one and have it fight before the exhust ejected it should cover the smell from both tents

If you have the funds for it and never tried it, I would definately do it.
Especially a skilled grower looking to enhance his knowledge by first hand experience :)

If results are unsatisfactory, you could still build a room, likely with the hardware from the tent.

Tents are dirt cheap. Like a 4x8 tent costs me under $150 delivered and my 4x4 tents cost me $85 delivered. You can grab 6 inch vortex carbon scrubber setups for under $85 delivered. Co2 setups are cheap I run 20 lbs tanks in 4x8 tents. I got 5 tanks on ebay for $150 shipped costs around here about $20 to fill one use maybe 2 tanks for a floor cycle. I build my setups either flood table which costs about $100 or an ebb n gro setup which cost me right at $140 to build for an 18 plant site setup..My biggest costs are bulbs at around $70 each running 3 600 watt lumatek digital dimmable ballast in a 4x8 tent. I dont do dirt as its alot more work, mess, and alot harder then hydro or aero so costs are minimal for hydro especially if its flood tables.

What kind of AC's do you use? If portable,
are they dual hose? What brand are they?
The portable dual hoses I've been around
work well but seem to suck CO2, even with
the dual hoses. They also leaked a little
smell but it was a small amount and tent
location made it not a problem.

Yeah costs are no issue for me. I just thought that if I can set it up without cutting a piece of wood or screwing one nail or drywall anything etc. than I would do it (only if I can get better or equal results). I already have all the hardware so all good.
