i have a soil probe ph meter but its cheep and i dont think it really works.

what you can do is wet the soil with nuetral or distilled water, take a handful of soil and squeeze the water out through a coffee filter until its CLEAR. then you can use a water pH test kit and that should tell you. just make sure there isnt any soil particles left cuz it can throw off they sample.

sorry, i tried to fine a post i saw explaining this better but i couldnt.

Hi,

I have been a hydro grower so I know the benefits of proper ph but this grow I am going in soil so your thread caught my attention.
Sure, I have heard of testing the runoff and watched the video. Thanks mygirls for taking the time to make it.. I got a question for you.

The way you did it, it seemed to me the water washed over the soil rather quickly. Seems to me this wouldn't be that accurate.
Do you think if you dumped the first sample and let it continue to drip into the lower pot you would get less but a more accurate sample?

i have never had any problems with ph ever being off. so im assuming that this does work has been for years with great yields and thriving plants

same here. liquid test kit and a cheapo soil probe. i check twice, but i'm out of my H20 Kit and my probe is broken (ithink) as above noted by another probe user. idk where to get a good one cheap. . . get what you pay for i guess

yea i think mine was like 5-8 bucks? its a dual moisture/pH meter, the moisture part works great but the pH needle always stays at 7 and i dont think my medium is always that perfect.
