The dreaded MG moisture control. Combo mix?

So I've been curious lately. i've grown with MG moisture control in the past with pretty reasonable results. But most people complain about how 'hot' the soil gets after a couple weeks of watering, and more so after a couple months. But I'm curious if anyone has done any experimenting with mixing moisture control with a soiless medium to dilute the strength of the fertilizers?

I was thinking if you did a 65/35 (MG/pro mix) with promix or coco. I mean obviously it's still not ideal all the way through flower considering the NPK. 0.15 - 0.05 - 0.10

but if you diluted the MG with the other medium it would allow you the ability to supplement in some P&K during flower (at reasonable rates) without having to worry about frying your plants. This is just a thought and I'm sure some people have tried something similar. If you have feel free to share your experience. I'm just curious.

I use all mg products...love em.....if you use them properly

I like the organic and the african violet...50:50 dirt to perlite works great, hot doesn't mean anything to me sorry. But the ph is a bit high with the water I use, which is just over 7...i use their bloom booster in veg and flower. It has a good ratio of nutes throughout the stages of maturity...and all (16)the micro nutes etc expensive brands have etc...except magnesium

I use MG/Promix/Perlite mix as well but not the moisture control. I'm thinking about using MC outside next year.

Hot as in the fertilizer salts build up causing a high ppm in the soil.

But do you use your mg organic and African violet in the same mix 50/50? Then take that mix and do a 50/50 soil to perlite? Or is it just 50/50 mg organic/perlite. Or 50/50 African violet/perlite ?

Nice. I thought about the benefits of moisture control outside too. What about The tiny Rockwool chunks mixed in with a soil for outside? You think that would cause any issues? If not that would be a great way to keep the roots moist during dry months. Especially for people who don't want to go out and check on the grow very often.

Well the av has a lot of n so I like to start with that and then add the bloom booster as it fades.. the AV can burn though so I started using the organic at the same ratio..the organic lacks the lime and I don't have to lower the ph.. I haven't really perfected my grow, I try out a lot of things.. I still use the av and I use the organic..I haven't decided which to drop :/ im somewhat indecisive.....in any case I do the 50:50 ratio....i did use this outdoors as well, I'm a pretty new indoor grower... but I hate the seed starting mix with a passion...throwing that out there..

Right now I'm running organic with perlite and I add some bone meal and mag, i also mix in the rootball of last crop...acts like coco......so far so good

If your confused sorry.....I experiment alot and don't have a set thing....but I love mg

I didn't much care for this either and thought it may have affected my seedlings somewhat. I wonder if you put this mix in the container and flush it numerous times before you plant, if it washes out most of the nutes.

I too had that argument with people on here. I ended up doing 3 complete grows in nothing but MG Moisture control soil. I add nothing other then towards the end I added molasses and I also flushed. i always used ph 7.0 water and never an issue. I did complete grow journels on here showing football sized nugs grown indoor. Think the titles were Fletch gets Dirty and Fletch gets Dirty 2.0 . used 1200 watts of light and 3 gallon pots.Only thing i found was the leaf ratio was higher then hydro but seems most soil grows have more leaf then aero and hydro grown.

Hey Bb.....
Hope you didn't get offended by my lack of response...if it makes you feel better I didn't forget the thread

I didn't want to give a premature answer... I have determined that the seed starter mix I have purchased ( being partial to mg i wasnt sure if it was a bad batch) is pure silt. Blow in the bag and you got a smoke bomb. This has been my experience.. it seems to cause watering issues clumping creating dry spots and impermeable poop.. my troubles haven't been so much nute related as just the quality of the soil

I find this contrast between the "woody" African violet soil and the silty seed starter to be the issue
Peace

To prove I can in fact grow a healthy leaf lol.....well besides its mutation

My point though is you can take a plant to harvest fairly healthy imo using strictly miracle grow products. And a 6 dollar box lasts me about 6 months

My price per gram ends up at 37¢………… I'm pleased with that.

I don't look at brand names but nute ratios and types of nutes..it burns good taste good etc

LOL I forgot I posted in this thread and started reading it from the beginning. I got to thinking about the flushing and was going to pose question about it when I read my post. DUH. It is pretty dusty when you open the bag. Stores around here are just starting to get the gardening stuff on the shelves. I'm lucky that I have a mom and pop store close buy to get 4CF bags of perlite and vermiculite cheap.
