How much will a 400 watt hps increase my bill per month?
Same question for a 400 watt MH. I want to know because my landlord pays the bill and I don't want him to come snooping.

at 18/6?
at 12/12?

I'm thinking a 12 buck increase a month won't raise eyebrows too high...

well you need to find out how much your pay per kw hour first before you work out how much in total it'll cost you.

as far as your land lord is concerned, get a few OLD pc's and hook stack them in a closet, all pluged in, and all hooked up on a network...

when some one comes knocking about the electricity point to the pile and say "I run a linux cluster as a web server, it's on when ever my friend's (another linux cluster) isn't, I'd say it'd be on about 12 hours a day, every day..."

got me out of shit once or twice, especially if they dont know shit about it.

if they ask "can I see how it's running", say "no because I'm developing a new system that I dont want the idea stolen."

easier to claim it's a headless server, but that's beside the point.

Doesn't the average color tv pull about 400watts? The cost would be the same as say having your tv on 12 hours a day. Otherwise cut electricity costs by replacing your incandescent light bulbs with cfls, cut your water heater to 120 degrees, raise the temp of your fridge, dry your clothes at the laundramat, etc. etc.

Well, it sounds like if I hide my setup well enough, there are plenty of excuses to cover my tracks. Time to go purchase a sun...

Thanks for your suggestions!

Mr I Can Do That For Half
I know my 1000 watt light on 24 hours a day makes my bill about $60 higher a month. So lets see about half that is $30 a month then cut the extra watts off so I d say somewhere between 10-25 bucks amonth for a single light on 24/7.Now it also depends where you live I know our electric company just got unfrozen and doubled rates so its those numbers now used to be cheaper. I know a friend down south run 4 400 watt lights and they raised thier electric 4 times as much and his last bill was $700 for entire house.Sucks to be him ours is bad but not like that lol
