Hello all was talking to my brother about harvest time and his opinion was he liked the taste and buzz better at a clear trich chop. I told him i thought i was going to go for a cloudy amber mix all opinions are welcome and valued thank you.

y clear for sativas??
Sativas have a longer flower period and thus the trichome cloud later. Since sativas have a more cerebral/energetic high then it will enhance this effect to harvest with not much amber, mostly cloudy and some clear. amber makes more narcotic high. Let the plant grow and ripen up, compare it to some pictures of ripe bus around here.

Hairs are usually a bad indicator of ripeness on their own. You should try to flush the last 1-2 weeks before harvest. Starting to flush when you see the first amber trichs is what I usually do, but everybody has a preference..

I, as does Supa go by trichs and he hit it on the head. When they start to color you should do a full flush of the container w/ 3-5X's the volume of the pot and then give it nothing but ph'ed water until she is ready to give to you and enjoy a clean ripe rip for all!

wot d u mean color? is that cloudy or amber? cos i dont want no amber on these sativas so im gonna wait till i got 50-50% clear, cloudy or less then start flush

thats wot i thought...lol...think cos he thinks its "flushing" the pots right though wiv x3 the amount of water.. which if he tryed it will see the differece if done right

what? water with water last two weeks on a healthy plant is a perfect flush time think of how much water in 2 weeks is going in the soil and the nutes get lighter and lighter as the plant uses them um i say water with sugar water last week before one week of just water nice results then

like i said there is no need to leech your soil b4 harvest all you need is straight water and molassas last 2 weeks. also like i said in my previous post ive done it both ways but believe what you want im jus trying to save you the trouble and the time

it is a nightmear flushing wiv that much water cos im up in a loft and ave to take buckets up there so it does take a while:( ive done it ure way b4 and wen i checked the run off at the final flush i still had a not normal EC (0.9) so i choose to give it to them to wash them clean, and they seem to like it

y clear for sativas??
Pure sativa strains and ones that are nearly pure, like 90% pure, reach peak THC levels when the trichomes are still clear. In those, if you want peak THC levels, you want to harvest when you has roughly 5% to maybe 10% cloudy trichomes so the rest of the clear trichomes have had a chance to fully pump up with THC.

But don't go by that is you are someone who considers anything more than 50% sativa a real sativa, like sadly so many people do.

Also, while it is rare now to see because most strains are mutts, Heinz 57 Variety strains, with so many mixed genetics in them and there are so few pure or nearly pure strains left, not all trichomes will start out as a colorless clear. Some can start out a clear-yellow or a clear-amber. In those cases you have to go by when clouding begins and the degree of clouding and also darkening of the initial color when it comes to when is best to harvest.

Due to most strains having so much mixed genetics the initial clear-yellow and clear-amber trichome colors will be seen by few and instead they will see a colorless-clear.

It has been a good number of years now so I can't recall the strain but I once grow one where the initial trichome color was a clear-purplish-reddish color. I was never certain if that was normal for the strain or if it was conditional/environmental or what .. but it was unusual to say the least.
