The future of MJ's role in CA

It seemed as though Cali shot out of the gate in comparison to most other states, however, I feel as though it has hit a roadblock with the majority of dispensaries being shutdown. I am mainly speaking in regards to socal.

What do you all think about norcal? Will it continue to embrace mj or will it fall flat in the future?

Does anyone have any theories on CA possibly following suit with Colorado?

I can't think of any good questions right now, but the thread's subject should provide good parameters for a constructive discussion.

Where I am at in norcal its basically dead. Dispensaries axed. I think as long as the fed govt has power it will never be legal. The money they make from prisons, big pharmaceutical etc outweigh the money made by legalizing cannabis.

Government uses illegal substances to fund blacklist projects..... CIA, FBI, ect... whitelist projects are ones were you can fallow the money trail

Here in Fresno/Madera only a few clubs remain.

I could careless if its legal or not I will always grow weed. I just get the card so people stop complaining so damn much.

I got seed stashes all over Friant/Fresno/Madera/Oakhurst just in case end of the world bs came true.

good to know that in apocalyptic times u will b waiting for plants to flower. i found your seeds too btw hide them better next time

Cali shot itself in the foot a few years back by not voting to legalize....mostly because of the greed of those in the business. If we had done so, maybe the issue of the Feds would already have been resolved. For better or worse.

maybe if prop 19 hadn't basically eliminated personal cultivation it would have been approves

I was curious about your comment, cause it didn't sound right, so I did a quick search, and this is text from Prop 19, which clearly allows cultivation for personal use (unless I am missing something).

Official summary:
Allows people 21 years old or older to possess, cultivate, or transport marijuana for personal use. Permits local governments to regulate and tax commercial production and sale of marijuana to people 21 years old or older. Prohibits people from possessing marijuana on school grounds, using it in public, smoking it while minors are present, or providing it to anyone under 21 years old. Maintains current prohibitions against driving while impaired.

(ii) Cultivate, on private property by the owner, lawful occupant, or other lawful resident or guest of the private property owner or lawful occupant, cannabis plants for personal consumption only, in an area of not more than twenty-five square feet per private residence or, in the absence of any residence, the parcel. Cultivation on leased or rented property may be subject to approval from the owner of the property. Provided that, nothing in this section shall permit unlawful or unlicensed cultivation of cannabis on any public lands.

limitied us to a 25sq ft grow per residence not per person

(c) “Personal consumption” shall not include, and nothing in this Act shall permit cannabis:
(i) possession for sale regardless of amount, except by a person who is licensed or permitted to do so under the terms of an ordinance adopted pursuant to section 11301;
(ii) consumption in public or in a public place;
(iii) consumption by the operator of any vehicle, boat or aircraft while it is being operated, or that impairs the operator;
(iv) smoking cannabis in any space while minors are present.



this was an issue because minor was anybody under 21 and they didnt define PRESENT so sounds like that would LEO discretion. Right now according prop 215 /sb 420 i can smoke lots of locations including public places and disneyland

11362.79. Nothing in this article shall authorize a qualified patient or person with an identification card to engage in the smoking of medical marijuana under any of the following circumstances: (a) In any place where smoking is prohibited by law.
(b) In or within 1,000 feet of the grounds of a school, recreation center, or youth center, unless the medical use occurs within a residence.
(c) On a schoolbus.
(d) While in a motor vehicle that is being operated.

(e) While operating a boat.

It still sucks, most important thing is to make it legal. If the rest ain't perfect, that shit can be tweaked later on.

Besides, you can't drink alcohol unless you are 21, public drunkeness is illegal, as is driving while drinking or being under the influence. Although the growing area size was kind of small, realistically if you were just growing for personal use, that COULD work. I'd see no problem getting a year's personal supply out of that

a years personal supply out of a 5x5? i smoke a qp a month, easily. there is no law saying you can only have 30 coors lights in your fridge.. if its legal its legal there shouldnt be some big honcho telling you how much you can grow. id rather keep things the way they are. my opinion.

I think CA was very gung ho about legalization until the nor cal underground scene realized what it would do to their profit margin. I know several "commercial croppers" in the hills who voted NO...

That said, there is no denying the momentum that we're gaining. The Feds are fighting a losing battle and they know it. MJ is here to stay, and they are going to have to adapt.

Ive heard that before but I think its misleading. 10 million people voted on prop 19 and it lost by like 700,000 votes,so any votes against it from growers were inconsequential. Even if every grower up there voted for 19 it still wouldnt have passed,not even close.

First of all, any one who thinks that Nor cal votes count in cali is .... dead wrong. There is just not enough people. If the vote is going to be super tight - it might count a little, but all in all there are so many people in socal. The bay area is where most are votes come from, and they are not pro weed?

Medical is slowly dying in cali, and even more the state attorney general thinks the medical cannabis has gone to far what voters voted for in the first place. They stopped trying to fight the feds, and gave him. Its rather hopeless for now other then home people.
