The Homemade $100 Grow box

Welcome to my grow...

So i'm on a pretty tight budget.
I've had to buy parts to put this together a few paychecks at a time.
I pretty much love Horticulture, growing plants as a hobby, and enjoying the harvest my own hands have created.
thats mostly why im doing this grow right now.

The Idea...
I wanted to create a box with 3 seperate chambers.
A flower room that could hold 2 good sized plants for my light set up, which i think would be 3-4' high. (based on previous grows)
the girls will have 24" x 18" each of side room
A small chillaxin veg room thats 3'h x 2'd x 10"w of open space.
then a exhaust/ dry curing room thats 2'h x 2'd x 10"w

The cost...
for the frame work I built my grow box using 12, 8' strips of 1/2" x 1.5"
So called 1" x 2"s from Home DePot
$1.15 per strip = $ 13.80
To cover it I used 4 sheets of 8' x 4' 1/8" hardboard
$6.88 per sheet = 27.52
1 qt of flat white latex paint $5.00
1 roll of reflective aluminum tape, $3.00
1 box of 1.5" self drilling black screws $5.00
1 roll of high density insulation foam tape $4.00
1 25' roll of 2mil mylar $25.00 from local hydroponics store
2 square 3 gallon planters $10.00
1 1.5 cubic ft bag of Fox Farm Ocean forest Soil, $13.00
So thats a total of $106.82 so its a little more, but
Thats it...
I already had Light bulbs/ set up from my previous home made hydroponic closet grow.
I also still have a few half full bottles of organic hydro nutes that can be used on soil as well.
The plants are being given to me by a fellow OMMP card holder.
not sure on the exact strain though, I know the mother looks
like a MILF though. and Tastes great

The Box


The Flower Room, veg lights are hooked up in there for now untill I finish the the veg room. I just need light baffling and a door.

I ended up not being able to get the clones.
So I used seeds from a pretty good crop.

Looks great! How many plants can you put in veg and flower once you get it all going?

Because of the Size of my planters, I can only fit 2 containers in the flower space. I could probably fit 3 or 4 plants in the flower space. Atleast untill I fugure out which are male/female. I dont have it set up yet though. So im just doing the full grow in the flower space for this run.

I think this one might be an indica variety.

Nice growing for $100 ay?

well the box itself was just under $50 to construct.
thats minus the mylar, planters, white paint, soil, ect... ect...
I already had the light set up also. probably $150 light set up including the 8 42w bulbs.

hey, i'll post more pictures on week 4/ december 30th.
I'm thinking about starting flowering on new years.
The plants are about 15 inches wide and 6 inches tall right now
I think I might wait till week 5/ january 6.
Because I want them to be about 10 - 12 inches tall when i start flowering
I have 3 feet of vertical grow space.
Any thoughts on when I should start flowering???

I had time to do it today instead of waiting till tomorrow.

!!! Wow thats a big change from the first couple to the second group of pics. Ill be following for flowering, Im thinking of starting mine in a few weeks.

only 4 inches of growth in 2 weeks but its really bushed out though.

Hopefully they're MILFs...

Thats what I'm hoping for man, I shoulda went with 3 plants to be safe - I only have two going. With only two plants, that means there is still a 25% chance they'll have balls - thats not good enough odds for me (although, the same chance they are both females!).

ganja - my cousin stopped by (an annual outdoor grower) and looked at mine. He couldn't believe how bushy they were with those cfls, its amazing. Mine have been stunted a bit because of the temp (mid 60's) but I righted the ship, we're staying about 72 now and the're speedin up a bit.

Yours are real bushy too. I havn't been growing for long, I notice (what it seems) is that you have a few side shoots goin on there. Do those increase in number when you flower?

No, they dont really increase in number.
whats there kinda just explodes with life.
For every fan leaf set there is a budding branch that come out of the armpit of it.
HAHA, I'll show you what I mean...

These side shoots???





I'm kinda hoping the side shoots will come out from under the fan leaves and catch up to the top of the plant. So that way it will grow more like a bush than a tree. My last CFL grow this happend and all the side branching colas were as big as top of the plant cola.
