and you could call the power company and see whats going on. like ask them what their policies are and shit. dont give any info, just ask if they've been going to houses and installing shit. if not id say it could be an undercover snoopin his big nose around. just dependin on what it is you do around town i guess. cause like i said above they shouldn't have any business goin inside your house.

What are cycling participation levels?
This is a key component of the PeakRewards℠ program. As a PeakRewards℠ participant, you are able to choose among three different program options with respect to your cycling participation level during regional emergency events.

50% cycling option: If you select this option, you will receive a $50 seasonal incentive which will be applied in bill credits in the amount of $12.50 per month from June through September. Look at the image at the bottom of this page to see how your credit would appear on your bill. Choosing this 50% option also means that your air conditioner's compressor will run for half of the time it would have run if it were not for the cycling event. This is the default option for new participants.

Keep in mind that your fan will continue to operate though your compressor is off and you will probably not even notice a change in temperature in your home. This cycling option is a good choice if you are typically home during the afternoon and early evening on weekdays.

75% cycling option: If you select this option, you will receive a $75 seasonal incentive or an $18.75 credit to your bill per month from June to September. Choosing this 75% option also means that your air conditioner's compressor will run for a quarter of the time it would have run if it were not for the cycling event.

You will probably not even notice that you are being cycled, as the typical home would experience a temperature increase of about 2 to 3 degrees during an event. Again, keep in mind that the fan will continue to operate though your compressor is off. This option is a good choice if you are typically in and out of your home during the afternoon and early evening on weekdays.

100% cycling option: Choosing the 100% cycling option means that your air conditioner's compressor will not run for the duration of the cycling event. If you select this option, you will receive a $100 credit per season, or $25.00 per month from June to September. The typical home may experience a rise in the overall household temperature of between 5 to 8 degrees during an event with this option. Your fan will continue to run even though your compressor is off. This option is a good choice if you are typically not home during the afternoon and early evening on weekdays."

Depending on where you live...and ur power company.... it may be legit.

There are these emergency switches the power co. wants to install on everyone's panels. This is so when the power co. is having problems...ie storms, hurricanes, outages.... ur house will seal itself off from the system. What is happening is lots of folks are using generators and such during the outages and sometimes they can back feed out of the house and down the lines. the switch prevents that.

It depends on ur area.... they may have you pay for partial or they may pick up the entire tab.

Improperly wired.... I can push 12,000 watts down the line from one of my houses.

EDIT: I just read you post after mine came up.... yes, that is to control ur output...the smart grid. Something else entirely to what an emergency shutoff switch is.

If it is voluntary (?)... do NOT do it.

Sounds like there installing a thermostat for the HVAC system. It will be shutting off just the A/C only. The installers for the smart-stat are usually third party companies. Usually not the local power company, but will represent themselves as utility workers. If your bangin out plants to eat, I wouldnt let them in. If it a really small gro, the saving might be worth it. What seer is your A/C? If its super efficient, fuck it and DO NOT volleenter.

So instead of spending the dough to build more generation plants, they want to be able to cut your AC? Fuck that noise. It almost justifies stealing electricity.
That's exactly right.... Slowly but surely they will start to control how you live. In Europe... folks are only ALLOWED to have A/C on at certain times....

The Smart grid is REALLY the CONTROL grid.

Don't let them do it if you can resist it.

That's why this game takes HUGE balls because what do you do? I've had the police banging on my door in the middle of the night while I was working in my room. My lady was like I think the cops are here. Btw it's like 6 weeks into flower and the smell is there for sure. We live in a nice neighborhood and we are people that you would never guess what we had in our house. So to make this short I told her to get it (we already have rules about people and never let anyone in and always close the door and talk outside with the dog) Well the cop was there for some random BS about a stolen car which I checked into and it was just a goof in paperwork. Needless to say I was scared for months!!
