The strain I like gets too tall

I like to put my res on a small table and there are two bars at the top of the closet at a little over 6 feet. That means with hang down space for 2 T5 panels, the plants are in the lights at 3 feet. Even if I put the res on the floor it only adds another foot. The last 2 grows I have struggled getting the lights up to where they won't burn. And of course, T5s won't penetrate that deep so no bud is coming from the bottoms. I may have to change strains.

This current grow I went to 12/12 very early thinking that would keep them shorter but no, they just caught up. Q is: can you top partly into 12/12? I can't do much topping in veg because they are so small when I go to 12/12.

I have not tried lst. Is there a good tutorial that's based on DWC? The ones I've seen have been based on soil grows, is there a difference?

why cant you top when there young? i top my clones a week after the roots take to the new meduim.......i have no issues and by the time i go 12/12 my plants have totaly recoverd from the topping and are now big and strong and ready to support the flower wait.......u dont have to top right before you flower.....some say you do, some say you top a week into flowering.... bla bla........Dosent make sense to me to top a plant right before flowering because at the point you top it is when the plant starts diverting is energy to makeing the other branchs grow stout to support the mulitpal new colas.....so i want my plant to have already grown those extra stout lims to support the multipal colas ill have from topping....If i wait and do it right when i want to flower seems like ill have to wait for the plant to catch up and recovry from the stress ....na i prefer to do it weeks before i flower so the day i flip 12/12 I already can see where my colas will be and already have the mulitpal lims sticking up big and thick ready to rock

It is the same as soil. Soil just is easier to tie to the edge of the pot, which can be harder with dwc setups. If you are using the 5gal buckets, you can easily drill a tiny pilot hole, then screw a small eye hook in. That gives you a good anchor for your first spot. Then your floor or more from that same hook if you are going sideways. If you are going in a circle just put more eye hooks around the bucket.

I'm looking for something with a little more detail. Like when and what the stages are. And what about the fact thatin dwc youhave multiple plants growing close together than you can't separate like you can pots. What about plants that are 2-3 ft tall and in flower?
