The TRUMP! Effect on personal relationships.

Nearly everybody I know has at least one friend or family member that they are no longer on speaking terms with since the 2016 elections. I have de-friended one old friend in response to the constant stream of Reddit-based fake news that he spewed. I have friends who no longer speak to a sibling. I know of long standing friend groups that will never meet again. I even know a wife that left her husband - who was already a serial abuser - after the election (that ones still puzzles me).

It is funny that the right is not affected by this except in a passive sense (no friends?). I see it as a good thing, like finding a Klan robe in your cousin's closet. It is something you want to know about people. But it does seem funny that the right has maintained that Obama was a divisive force in America.

Tell us who you no longer speak to and why.

Your mom & I rarely agreed on politics.
I'll miss her...

But seriously, the only one that comes to mind was from the previous election. I got unfriended by a guy who was my best friend all through high school. Yeah, it's only four years but we stayed in touch. We were close -- like beavis & butthead.

Major bummer...

How much did you spew that your friend didn't agree with? Yet all that time he never unfriended you for difference of opinion.

I kept all my Obama loving friends even though I disagreed for 8 years. If they were to break it off now then it would be they who was divisive.

For me, this person is @Flaming Pie. Before this whole Drumpf fiasco we were the best of friends. Inseparable. We'ed often go for long walks in the park, mocking various protesters by yelling things like "stay in the KITCHEN, dumb bitches!!", and if the day was progressing nicely I'd go ahead and grab her right by the pussy.
NO longer, though; Diaper Donny has torn our once magical relationship asunder. :(

That bastard!
I'm sorry BL, this makes me so sad. :-(
You two were perfect for each other.

Is it politically incorrect to give your child a firearm on their first birthday? Just curious...
Something small like a .357 magnum.
Wouldn't want to give them an AR-15. That would be crazy! :dunce:

Don't be an idiot.

Baby's first gun should be a .410 until their hand eye coordination is established.

Being so fucking repugnant and bigoted like an outspoken, bitter old Trump supporter is divisive. This doesn't extend to all people who voted for him believing he was a lesser evil, just the outspoken xenophobes who actually find his neofascist views appealing, like you.

One Facebook friend, although I just unfollowed his posts because I don't find any of his continuous, loud opinions add anything to my life.
Also found out an American cousin is a trump supporter. She was someone I considered intelligent. But when she started telling my mother that we here in Canada don't really know what's going on, and that she alone knows all this secret special news that speaks the truth, my feelings changed. I didn't un-cousin her; but some respect was lost.
Everyone else I know is smart and thinks trump is a turd.

I'd avoid small-frame short-barrelled .357s altogether.

Oh... and children. I detest children.

My friend and I sort of continued to get along throughout the election but something changed afterward. He and I were smoking a bowl after the election when he flipped the news on and saw protesters in Austin. He started to scream at the TV, and me, about how George Soros was paying them all. So I packed up my kit and bailed. Went to get one of them George Soros jobs. Soros has not returned my calls.

He was an asshole anyway. Age has made him worse.

when obama won, i remember how emboldened we were. we could finally speak up about our secret liberal desires to be inclusive, welcoming, and big-hearted. don't recall losing any friends, except a few facebook "friends" (mostly former co-workers and whatnot) who said openly racist things about him.

when trump won, you guys got emboldened too. you finally felt like you could speak up about how you love fascism and ethnic cleansing. that umbrella only protects trump though, hence why i enjoy getting you guys fired for your social media posts.
