The Trump Trend. Is it democratic or something else?

For a little while - I think about 12 hours, Donald seemed like he might react to being elected in a more responsible way than he acted as a candidate. Boy do I miss those days.

So what do you think about his first month "in office"?

Now I see behavior that is very much in keeping with my worst fears. Those fears were that Donald has no respect for democratic institutions and would subvert them to gain personal power.

It seems like a lot of people are counting on Donald's leadership to restrain his increasingly radical cabinet. And people are also counting on Republican leadership to restrain Donald. I find this worrisome. I have seen it before and it didn't ever end well.

Making matters worse, Donald has continued to cultivate large groups of chanting people, continued to use twitter as his main conduit for communication and continued to pillory and attack the free press. I feel that he is testing the boundaries of our institutions with an eye toward finding out how far people are willing to let him go.

Do you like the direction this is heading?

there are so many people who hope he dies before he gets in. but then Pence is a whackadoo too.

fucked up beyond all recognition is what we are.

We've been living under de facto martial law and a fascist state since Occupy Wall Street was illegally destroyed by military police action.

How much worse can it get? Y'all ain't seen nothin' yet!

I don't kmow if I would go that whole route but I can certainly see where you could. I do agree that it is likely to get worse. Trump is finding out what is possible, how far he can get people to go - how far people are willing to let him go. When his policies and practices really come under fire we shall see how far he is willing to push it. Expect him to take his case directly to the people more and more often. Thay could never be a bad thing, right?

Expect him to start to bring up the equivalent of Hitler's "stab in the back" even more.

I would bet that he is. Lots and lots of it. The former Soviet state got privatized by those well connected to the Soviet cronies. All that money is private now and in the hands of, or under management of the large banks.

"Guernica" by Picasso- it's about the bombing of Guernica, Spain in 1937 by the nazi "Condor Legion" at the behest of Generalissimo Francisco Franco, the leader of the fascists during the Spanish civil war. Guernica is located in the northern Basque province which was a hotbed of opposition. The nazis were careful not to target the Astra factory because they wanted them to make guns for them (which they did, and at a profit unlike other European gunmakers who were forced to do so after their countries fell to the nazis)
I learned this while looking for information on an old Astra pistol I have
