Think I should lower the lights for now??

Yes, 18 inches from the plants. Make sure you get a fan on those lights though...keep it cool!

erm what kind of light do you run ?


if fluorescent, they need to be with in 2-4 inch`s to provide good strong light, from 4-10" they still provide ok light, but after 12" my light meter don't show much ..

good, I use a T5HO fixture with 6 bulbs in Veg.




and really, even the HO (high output) type don't provide much light, even really close, compared to my 600W HPS



the good news is that the light (if in the right Kelvin 2700/6500K) provide the right Par light for your plants, just need to keep em really close, so if you plant on flowering with em aswell and dont have a HID you should really consider to train your plants some how (LST/Scrog) to keep em small and bushy so you can keep the tubes close

YEah general rule for T5 lighting to get them as close as possible without burning the plants.

yep 2-4 inch`s seems to work perfect, when they begin to get father away the grow seems to slow down a lot, but good thing about Tube`s is that they emit very little heat, I can easily touch my T5HO bulb`s even when they run 24/7, so in my experience you can keep em as close as you want as long as they don't touch the bulb (that of course mean to keep em a few inch`s away to give em room to grow)
