hey all, my six hundred uses a growlush magnetic ballast, do the digital ballests actualy save power or is the power saving due to the fact you can run a 400w? is there a actual power saving when i run it as a 600w?

Digital ballasts are slightly more efficient but not by much. you probably won't notice any difference on your bill unless you dim it down.

Not t mention, the magnetic ballasts here in the U.K. Are plastic coated budget specials...lol! They work perfectly, though the heat they produce is like a nuclear power station!! Apparently digi's preserve your lamps life longer and the lumex one have a super lumen boost, I think they can produce unto ten% more. As well as running nice and cool, silent too. That's my next step, along with adjusta-wing reflectors and a fan speed controller, then I'll be a happy man,my girls will too. :)

only problem with digital ballasts is you need better bulbs you can't use the cheapo ones. I had one bulb come with my ballast that blew in about 2 weeks but it was from china with no brand name or warranty. now I'm running a lumatek hps bulb and a digilux mh bulb with the other cheap bulb as backup. they do use less power not too sure how much some of them are silent the only noise from mine is from a cpu fan and it stays pretty cool.
