Plants. Auto Zkittlez about 46 days old
Grown in Fox Farms Ocean Forest
Started using Dyna Gro Bloom and Mag Pro 2 weeks ago. First week at 1/4 dose, second week 1/2 dose, two times a weeks. Last dose was two days ago and they looked fine.

Today I go to water and see this on two of my best plants.

I know I have seen this before on this forum, but can't remember what it is. My guess is Mag or P problems. Could someone please confirm what it is and the best course of treatment?

looks like lack of cal to me,maybe ph locking it out or to much N very dark green.

Thanks Thumper60! I guess its been three weeks now that I have been using the Dyna Gro, I asked the lady about getting some Cal Mag, and she recommended what I have been using. So whats the action I should take? Just water and get some Cal Mag?

Your plant has calcium deficiency symptoms.

There are a couple of causes of this usually.

pH to high or too low for Calcium uptake.

Lack of calcium in the source water and/or base Nutes.

Over abundance of Magnesium (causes Ca def symptoms) this one is usually pretty rare unless you’re heavily using an Mg product.

I only tend to use Mg here and there. My preferred method is to use magnesium Sulphate (Epsom salts) which I sprinkle a small amount on top of my medium and water it in with the next feed.

I have run Dyna-gro for years just buy a bag of Epsom Salt
Use it to spray (foliar feed)and about once a month to water
Manufacturers always offer a more expensive option

If calcium is the problem (emphasis on 'if'), I'm not sure that the epsoms will do much good...but, if there is a lack of Mg, that in itself could definitely antagonize the plant's ability to uptake the calcium. I would certainly try the epsom salts, not like you've anything to lose.

Calcium and magnesium deficiencies can become serious quite quickly..in fact, it's common for growers to not even realize they have either of these two deficiencies until the symptoms become severe. They're just difficult to spot in the early stages, not to mention identify.

Also added magical Epsom salts... I think (not fact, just a thought) that by raising the ppm of mg, then the calicum and magnesium were closer in ppm and no longer locked out. I'm no chemist, just a mechanic

Thanks for the info everyone. I've been watering with Cal Mag only the last couple rounds, I think things are positive. The problem never went any further, and no new spots have been showing up, I study them daily.

I could definitely see too much Ca being a problem for some, especially if it is in relation to Mg. If you can install an RO system, then you could just add a small amount of calmag if needed. Some people run RO without calmag, I usually don't use it but the past couple grows I've been doing heavy feeding strains and have needed to apply it at least half strength. Just depends on your base nutrient really.
