My situation allows me to grow no more than a single plant at a time. So obviously I'd hate to have a month of veg turn into a male! Then you can see why the idea of feminized seeds is a good one for me. Can anyone share their positive and/or negative experiences with feminized seeds? Do they reliably produce females? I would be ordering from a reputable source, probably Nirvana.

just started flowering a 1 1/2 month old bubblicious and ak48 from nirvana , both were single seeds from attitude seed banks "pick and mix" section (nirvana strains they are liek 9.99 a seed over there) both were female , have plenty of preflowers b4 i threw them in and are budding nicely now 3 weeks in

i've grown probably around ten or so fem seeds from as many breeders from people like dna, reserva previda, sagarmatha, cali connection, and a few others.. everyone has been a girl, and i have never had any hermie problems.
i am not sure what people do in order to get hermies from their fem seeds, but thus far i've yet to have any issues at all, knock on wood of course, lol..
i think the main thing is to stick with some of the breeders who seem to have their fem game down, which not all of them do obviously.. i've heard of lots of problems from greenhouse fem'ed seeds as well as say barney's farm, same deal.. i have also heard that th seeds had some issues with their mk ultra fem's, but i've only grown their regular mk ultra and loved it... i also grew a couple of fem's from dr greenthumbs, and have had great experiences with all of his gear for sure.
do your homework, learn who's fem's are known to not have problems same as who's don't have any issues, and you shouldn't have any issues if you keep them happy same as you would with a non fem'ed seed..

in my case heat will make them hermie !! i bought 5 from greenhouse seeds, and they all hermed, but it was my first atempt n i let it over heat once or twice, 90 plus, and failed to water once n they were all droopy n shit, but perked up after watering, but 6 weeks in to 12/12 i noticed bananas took a tester bud, seeds in it. chopped straight away, the weed was excelent but to many seeds, but i did over stress them, gone for normal this time n root out the males , pain in the ass i no vegin somethink for 4/5 weeks to bin it, but will try fem next time as i av a better set up now !! good look wiv ur choice m8

although i'm sure the heat didn't help things, i'd be willing to put money on it that those plants would have hermied on you whether they got extra hot or not.. like i was saying above... ghsc are known to put out hermie prone plants, even in their regular seeds, and once we start talking about their fem's, forget about it, you can pretty much rest assured that you're going to get a few nanner's from ghsc stuff.. and some of their strains are worse than others ...

Switching up time schedules is probably the biggest one. There are two ways of procuring feminized seeds. One involves breeding with a hermie, and using multiple generations (the more the better) of inline breeding to remove the hermie trait. The other uses colloidal silver to produce male flowers to pollinate with. A good breeder can stabilize feminized seeds with either method. Order from the best, and you'll never need to worry.

why not grow a pair urself and put in 3 seeds and if 2 hermie them 1 is good or if 3 are good throw 2 out

my last run, i planted 8 feminized seeds. 3 were hermies. i thought it was my conditions, so i tried more clones of those 3 later (when i went from a cramped tent to a nice room). the great conditions didnt mean shit. the 3 that were herms were herms. im not gonna bash the companies, but it was 3 of the 5 biggest, or close to it.
basically id say you chance of hitting a herm is 33% with fem, and ur chance of hitting a male is %50 with regular seeds. some would disagree, and these statistics will change as i grow more. i can only speak for what ive seen.
PS: i BELIEVE that companies put more time into their "flagship" strains (BB's cheese, GHSs SSH, DNAa LA conf, etc.) go for a big name when ordering a femmed seed, and itll more than likely be pure because they put more time and money into the strains that they advertise hard. makes sense to me.

Look for strain reviews before purchasing certain fem seeds as some strains will be more prone to hermiying than others. I had Ortega and Master Kush from Dutch Passion growing and first grow MK turned hermie on me although she looked much better than ortega and the second grow ditto, however the second grow it was only one pair of nanas which i was able to capture before causing any damage. They suffered a bit heat stress during the first grow, but the second one went smoothly and still got herms, so yeah with femed seeds its more about proper genetics than environment. Blueberry strains are notorious for hermie issues and RP Headband growers have reported quite a lot of them, but that didnt stop me from acquiring them as even a hermie is a good smoke, certainly much better than off the streets.

I just had to chop a Barney's Acapulco Gold. Out of the 20 or so fem seeds I have grown out, this is the first I have ever had a problem with. 4 weeks in, bananas with a sativa would result in too much damage as the rest of my girls are doing fine...even my Dutch Passion Blueberry is holding tough and I super cropped it.... didn't super crop any of the rest, no other stress factors that I am aware of.
