Time lapse photos

I’m looking at setting up a camera to do a time-lapse of my tent. I think it would be neat, and even useful to compare between grows.

From what I read, I’ll need an intervalometer and a camera. I found a couple intervalometers on amazon.ca(I’m in Canada), but they say compatible with only certain, expensive, cameras.

What I’m wondering is, what is a cheap camera/intervalometer combination, or a camera that can do this for me?

Quality aside.

It's possible to use an old android/ios cell phone with timelapse app installed.

Many apps to choose from.

Very nice! I was going to put a camera in there to monitor them, but I’ve only got a 3x3 foot tent, so not really much room.

Here was my first time lapse, of about 2 and a half days. Didn’t bother editing this one, but I’ll cut out the nighttime shots eventually and add day markers.

Oops, I was going to add a video, but I guess it won’t let me. Eventually I’ll add to YouTube and link.

Yes you can just buy them on amazon - There is a new model out, the raspberry pi 4, but you could maybe get a 3 on amazon or ebay for really cheap like 30-40 dollars maybe, plus you need the official camera accessory as well. If you don't know any programming or scripting it can be a little tricky to set up, but there are plenty of good tutorials out there that show you how to set up the timelapse.... If you get to that point I'd be happy to share my little script - it runs automatically at startup, and copies the files across my wifi to my main computer every hour or so... I compile them into a movie later in blender, but you can actually script this on the raspberry pi too if you want to make it a movie before transferring. I also set up a little webpage hosted in apache on the pi on a private IP on my network that shows the first and last picture taken so I can take a quick glance on my phone and see how they are doing...

Eventually I want to buy a thermometer and hygrometer for the pi - You can have it log the temp and humidity as well...
