growing indoor In soil in a 4x8 area in 3 gallon containers using ocean forest soil. When and what should I feed my plants for fertilizer, what should my watering schedule be, when should I switch to 12/12, any other tips?

You can use the KISS it method. Jacks 20-20-20 plus Calimagic for veg (1/4 teaspoon each per gallon per watering) Jacks 10-30-20 bloom booster plus Calimagic for flower (1/4 teaspoon each per gallon per watering) Be sure to flush well 2 wks prior to harvest with plain water.

Watering - Water till water drips out of bottom of your pots holes. Let the soil semi dry out before watering again...once every 3-5 days. Switch to 12/12 when your plants fill every inch of space up.... any other questions ask away!

If starting in ocean forest you won’t need to fertilize for at least a month. I would also recommend either a different soil or mix it with plain peat or coco if your working from seed. FFOF is too hot a mix for seedlings.

How many plants? Would imagine you'd need a few for 3 gallon pots to fill a 4x8. I'd veg 6-8 weeks from seed in those pots

Im just about ready to finish a 3 gallon soil grow. All my good used soil got used by my wife for house plants.I was to cheap to buy more and I had enough dirt to fill four 3 gal pot.60% fox farms 40% sohum.I flipped mine 4 weeks from seed as I did not want them to get to big for the pots later when there in flower.(makes things more difficult later)you can get great results with 3 gallon pots but if your not a cheap ass like me and have not started yet,I would advise stepping up to at least 5 gal pots.If your wanting to keep them small anyway as I was then 3 will work just fine but don't veg to long.I did not use anything in soil until about week 5 then only fox farm big bloom i only use organic so your feeding may be different than mine.after they started to flower I used molasses once a week to help feed the soil.just used a nip of big bloom couple times a week.in 3 gallon pots keep an eye on them so they do not make a habit of getting them to dry between watering. best of luck enjoy the grow.

OP,

If you are already familiar with outdoor organics, then i think you should pick it up pretty fast.

If on the other hand, you plan to use bottled nutrients, i'd choose soiless all day. It would be virtually the same thing. There are some pretty decent organic based, bottled nutrients now too.

If you really do want to go the indoor organic soil route, there're some great threads about it here in the organic section.
I think the main objectives are, all your amendments should ideally be fully composted, and to keep the soil microbes healthy / maintained.

Pretty cool video i saw on YouTube the other day. You might like it too.
