To Epsom or not to Epsom.............That is the question !!

Hi all

I'm currently in week 3 of flower on my 2 AK 48 and one is looking slightly mag deficient but this being my first grow I can't be sure, but it's the bigger one showing signs and I've read that when using Biobizz All mix soil it's quite common to have mag def. Being this is my first grow I've read a lot of things about epsom salts and to be honest I have a touch of analysis paralysis with the many many different answers I've read I was hoping to get some straight forward answers to a couple of questions, so here goes............

1) Is adding Epsom salt around the 3rd week of flowering something that should be done even without signs of Mag def ??
2) If Epsom salts are added and your plant isn't Mag def can it cause harm to the plant ?
3) If it should be added what ratio should it be mixed in ?

Thanks in advance for your help and knowledge and any other info on this that people think I might find helpful I will be very greatful !!

Epsom salt, also called English salt is Magnesium sulfate and will provide your plants with both Mg and sulfate, both important for the NPK uptake

use a te spoon per gallon of water, tho delude it in a cup of boiling water before you add it to your water Can ..

I use it mostly in Veg, both in my soil mix and in the water, maybe 3-4 times doing Veg (3-6 weeks)

once I begin to flower I begin to use Black Strap Molasses and that also provide Mg so I stop with the epsom salt (Molasses also provide a lot of other trace elements and some P-K plus sugar/carps for the micro life in your soil)

I use it more or less in the same way, a Ts. in a cup of boiling water, then add it to the Can, I use it more often then the Salt tho, in between the nuts, so roughly once a week all flowering also last week when I cut the nuts/tea

here is some of the stuff I use in Veg/flowering

but I do wonder if the Signs you see is light green growth ? as week 3 of flowering is just after the stretch, quite normal to see light green/yellow fan leaf`s atleast the old grow if new grow/buds look good no need to worry to much ..

a little lime also provides the mag you need. lime drench...1tbsp/gal water....dolomite lime though. not garden lime.

Thanks for the info,

Is adding epsom salts something I could do just "In case" and to tick off the list of things I need to watch out for or will it cause more harm than good if it's not needed ??

yea go ahead, wont harm anything, I know salt, but its magnesium sulfate, English farmers have used it since the 1800ish on there fields

agin, dont over do it, but a Ts. once or twice doing flowering wont hurt anything, might just help the plant not get the deficiency

and yes Lime is also a good call (I use Maerl = Oceanic Lime) also mix it in my soil but also like to give it a top dressing (1-2 table spoons on top of the soil before you water) half way in to flowering at around week 4, to help keep the PH steady through flowering, specially if you add a lot of nuts it might drop if you don't flush it good, the Lime will also provide some "easy" Calcium witch is as important as the Magnesium for weed and Lime is cheap, most garden centers have Dolomite Lime or you can order a small 1 Kg bag online, go a long way if you have a small 4 plant grow

Maerl, Molasses and Bat guano is 3 things I love to use doing flowering, also cheap as they go a long way in a good organic SS

I use Epsom salts in a spray bottle then mist while in bloom, it works to make more bud sites...I mist maybe 2 or 3 times during veg and when it blooms...
