Strains that create "spears" or are heavily biased to developing the main cola are good for topping, scrogging, mainlining, all that jazz. Easier to keep a flat canopy. With the right strain, I'd say it definitely increases yield 'cause there's less larf in general.
Strains that develop branches a lot or are bushy already (kushes) don't stand a whole lot to gain, and suffer from repeated topping.
