Tomatoes On A Fence

idk about a fence.. the whole point of the cages is just for support.. if its a wire fence, i guess it could work.. just like someone else said, just weave them into the fence as it grows..

In my neighborhood if it grows on the
outside of the fence its up for grabs!
Bastards stole my tomatoes and two
watermellons last year.Didnt smash
them in the street either,I guess they
were hungry.

They will climb the fence with no problem. I am planning on using hog confinement panels for my tomatoes. It has 4 inch space to put your hand through and only needs two T-posts to hold up.

i seen one last year. it was a cherry tomato plant climbing up a ten foot fence, it was the biggest tomato plant i have seen or at least tallest.

i say go for it and im sure it will work great

I've done it. It works fine. I also used the long pipe cleaners as ties to fence too. Gives the vines a little more support plus pipe cleaners are a little softer. I also used them on the "other plants" to tie upper branches back to main stem to promote more flowering and keep plants the same height for best light effect.
