Tomato’s

My father is my go to for conventional gardening advice, and his is the opposite. Remove all of the lowest side shoots from your tomato plants, you want to encourage them to focus their energy toward the tops and upper side branches of the plants.
Cool. Ill do that come spring.... thanks

I do the same, and have had the best plants when I keep removing the lowest shoots and potting into a slightly larger container up to the lowest leaf/stem until I put them in the ground or final pot.
They have a pretty shallow root system and this helps a lot to create a larger rootball come final transplant.

depends if your growing bush, or tall tomatoes.
tall ones come in two variaties, some you snip the side shoots off and some you leave.
you can cut the top off of ones that have only a few sets of flowers so you just get a few trusses of tomatoes.
are you struggling for height?

I've always just let them do their thing. Other than pinching the bottom branches and burying them when I transplant into the ground they grow as they grow. Somewhat unruly at times but I end up with more tomatoes than I know what to do with. And some huge ones as well.
