Too much light?

So I started growing some Northern Lights that I bought a while ago at Amsterdam in some eurotrip. I started germinating them, took 40hours, then put them under 2x 40w 48" fluosrescent. They did not have lights for 24hours ish and I wanted to start slowly with it. Those lights give approx 4k lumens so 8k lumens total for 4 x 1. So 2k every 1 foot square.

Now I keep reading forums and watching videos and stuff and try to gather as much informations as I can. My plants are growing good, they all look good. Ive 5 of them right now and 4 others germinating.

I added 2x 40w 2.6k lumens bulbs yesterday for their first 18veg light session. After the first nap of my babies, I added 2 more 40w 2.6k lumens bulbs so theyve light from 3 different directions.

But if I calculate correctly

2.6 x 4 = 10.4k lumens + 8k = 18.4k lumens

From the 8k id say 50% isnt used so 4k
18.4k - 4k = 14.4k

I do not have reflector and stuff so I guess im losing a certain % of those lumens. My 5 plants are on a 1foot by 1foot chair. The 2 fluos are right on top of the plants and the 4 bulbs are a litle away since they produce more heat and I dont want to burn the plants.

Is that too much light for a 4days old plant?

probably dont need quite so much for lil seedlings, get all that on them after a few more days. Stick to the 2x40's for now

I use 50,000 lumens on my 1 day old plants, never had a problem. After a week they go into 120,000 lumens of power and grow like weeds(LOL).

I also put my seedlings straight under a 400 watt hps,albeit i increase the distance of the 400 to about 24" away to start and lower an inch or two a day until i am at the optimum 8" away from the tops.
A good fan must be used and no water must be on the leaf

ya I put water only at the start of the dark period. And ive a fan blowing right into my babies. Ohwell all the lights are up and running now. thx 4 help

you can never have to much light just to much heat from the lights. most of us have our lights vented.
