Too small to flower?

I have 4 plants growing, they are only 4 or 5 inches tall. Due to my tight space constraints, is it possible to start 12/12 light, (on 24 now) or is it too early.
I am only worried that they will grow too much and I will have to give them away.
Back to the question, is it possible they are too small to start flowering, I know the yield may only be one or 2 buds, but for my first grow, only looking for results, not quantity, before I take it to a larger scale.
many thanks!

Count 5 nodes and if you have that many let her rip.
Most genes will be fine with that. You can still pull some good quantity if you have good light and don't over feed.

They all have 6-9 nodes.
And they are starting to give off a nice smell!
Gotta start filtering them before my neighbors get suspicious.
