Toping and FIMing , difference in structure results

Hi all ,

Last grow i used the FIM technique and i got a bushy structure with +- 10 heads that were almost at the same size and height . The problem was in 2 plants FIM worked and other 2 didnt . My actual grow i tryed FIM again and had success in one and failed in others and had to use another fim later . This is bad for me as i want a even canopy again but my fail rate on the FIM technique made me look to the topping technique instead .

So my question is , with topping will i get secondary heads/nodes getting the same heigh of the top nods like when fim works ?

Or will i get 2 main colas at higher height and size and a lower secondary ring of colas ?

My objective is to get simmilar results to main-lining , i know a good FIM can do it without further training , but i need to know if i can get with it with only topping

If I'm understanding you rite I believe topping is the more reliable of the 2 methods if your mainlining.

Honestly FIM is for people who do super short veg periods or are scared to top thinking it will kill their plant or w/e..

I've topped over 20 strains with none having issues and had phenomenal results. If you want to have an even canopy then calculated/strategic topping and staking is going to be your best way.

I do a combination of topping, lollipopping and staking/netting to achieve good results. This run I had 4 plants I let just grow like bushes but if you wanna check out how I trained them here's a link to the grow tracker. I personally let them grow to about 8 nodes and chop the entire head off the plant at node 6, clean off all of the lower branches other than the ones I want to keep, usually leaving me with 4-6 tops. From there every "top" or middle head you take off the branches will result in the 2 tops beside it to grow as primary heads or tops.. From there you can choose on how long you want the tops branches to be and also how many tops you want in the end. Each time you top you create 2 heads if done properly. Soo if you have 4 tops after chopping the head off, veg for a week or two, top again then you're doubling the heads so you will then have 8. Wait another week or two then top 1 more time for 16 tops. From there, you just let the plant recover, usually a week and flip into flower.

one of my grows

Usually you want to lollipop after your first week of stretch in flower. See what is going to get light and what isn't. Usually my rule of thumb is anything below the 50% mark goes! Keep in mind once you go into flower there is no turning back on whatever you chop off and you will lose yield by lollipopping but have much nicer buds to work with and not all that scraggly micro nuggetry.
