Was wondering when and how to top the plants and what is the real function of it. I have plants that are 2 weeks into veg, still havent been sexed. I heard that you only top mother plants but not sure how to do it.

Do you do it to the mother, or when you veg or flower..not sure what it is exactly for
no reason to do it for mother because the mother is not going into flowering and thats the reason you top, to gain two top colas from a node that you topped back in VEG which made a V of two vertical branches

So even if there are nodes about th 4th I should cut them, which will then make the plant grow into two different directions to form two top colas?

bend over the whole plant then you get about eight tops and no wait from topping.
Is what you are speaking about the technique where you take a rock and a peice of sting and every day you wind the string up so the pant bends without breaking its stalk and eventually the plants top will be all the way on the ground near the soil in the pot?

topping does suck, but it works out if you need other small plants to catch up to the one you are topping. Cause like you said it takes like a week to start growing again, in that week your other plants that you want to flower simulanteously can catch up in grwoth

so after you have tied the plant down do you leave it like that for good or .....?

Regarding the comment about not topping mothers. I top all my moms to get more shoots growing, it makes the plant bushier. Then you top the new top shoots and it even gets bushier. More to clone with. So if height is an issue for mom, top it - - as far as flowering plants, top if you want, play around and see what works for you, some people top theirs, others dont.
