Topping after LST

Does anyone top after training?

I was thinking of letting my photoperiod go to 6-8 nodes, tying the main stem down to one side to expose the lower branches, then topping the plant to drive growth to the lower branches I just exposed.

Thoughts on this technique?
 
Tying the mainstem down is what breaks apical dominance, so you wont have to top the stem you just tied down to drive growth to lower branches.
 
I've heard that topping can also break apical dominance, and I want to send as much auxins to the lower branches as possible.

Yeah topping can break apical dominance, AD, and tying down can do it too. So doing both is redundant.
 
I've been playing around with topping, LST, and combinations of both this past year, on photos and autos, and what works best is really dependent on the strain and phenotype and how it responds to the training.
If you're already LSTing the plant heavily, you should be breaking the apical dominance, so topping as well won't make a huge difference at that point.

I am mainlining three blueberry photos right now so I am doing both at the same time.

Your plan will work just fine...if you have multiples of the same strain, feel free to do different things to each one and see which results you like best.

My aim is to do LST once by bending the main stem down then topping it so that it doesn't come back as the dominant shoot. Once the side branches (5-6) are a little more developed (a couple weeks later) I will top each of them to double the number of colas (5-6 to 10-12). From there I'd just let her rip without much LST at all. Thoughts?
