Topping im a newb first plant

Howdy i got my 4th node coming in and ive heard thats when you top and i wanna keep my plant bushy..so i think that will help right? its about 7 incehs tall and the 4th node literally just started and has some tiny fan leaevs comin up with it..should i wait until those fan leaves are pretty full and then top at the 4th node? or wait for another node? any help appreciated

i think you can top at any time. If the pant is healthy it will always recover. How tall is the plant? If you want it short and bushy i would top it when it is about 12-18" high. And i would cut JUST the very top.
