So please just post weather you top your plants plan to top, or never intent to top go on

So ill start it off by saying, i plan on topping my first single plant grow is 8 inches tall so pretty soon i hope :D

I topped4 out of my 8 plants and it seems the untopped plants are producing larger denser buds than the topped plants. Just my 2 cents

i have topped 4 plants and not topped two,

i agree that with proper veg time and lights topping CAN increase yield,, but with cfl's or small watt HPS.. topping will make less dense buds,,

i have some plants that are topped and massive , and others that look pathetic... maybe top some of ur plants and YOU be the judge... :)

thanks for the input guys, i think im not gonna top unless i run out of room. however do you guys know if the top would make for a good clone? then i might consider it

yeah, top nodes are alright to use as a cutting.

lower cuttings have more rooting hormones in them, and less nitrogen (better for rooting, but if you are going to top anyways for height reasons, might as well try to root the top)

One of my plants was accidentally topped by one of my dogs. The plant was miraculously undamaged in any other way. You can see it in the front row, second from the right in the pic below. While all my plants are suffering a slight deficiency problem right now, you can see overall that the topped plant is the same height but with far less dense growth than the others. Still in veg stage, so can't compare buds yet but IMO this is evidence enough to not top unless you have space constraints.

Thought I should also mention that the topping incident happened two weeks ago and when I say "accidentally topped," I mean they ate it.:-|

i have also topped and im using a 400 watt hps but my top two buds are also airy lookin......i only topped because of space resriction..........kinda wish i wouldnt have had to.........still have about a month left of flower so i'll be back with the results

there is nothing bad in the topping, but it's usualy perform when you have height issues....not only for that- it makes plants bushier :D

I topped all three of my ladies.

The plants are 8 days into flower.

I vegged for 6-7 weeks, topped them at the 4 week under a 400wHPS

You can see in the pics that the canopy on the all three consists of at least 4 tops.

This is my first grow so it will be a good experiment to see if the buds are airy and less dense than normal.

I'm a newbie growing outdoors and height isnt an issue. Would you choose to top or not? This is a hard decision for a first time grower!!!!!
