What is the best age to top a plant, I have a plant that is exactly 68 days old and is about a foot tall and also need to know what is the best way to do it?

This. The one plant I have that I cut in the 4 top method has gone beast mode, really tight nodes compared to my other plant that I topped at the very top of the growth.
