If your. " Topsoil" in store purchases doesn't have clay sand And silt, YOU DO NOT HAVE TOPSOIL

I would also like to note that potting mix is not soil of any kind.

Everytime I ask someone what they are growing in face to face, 70% say "dirt" and the other 30% say "soil" when in reality they are using a $5 potting mix from Bunnings which consists of composted building materials, mandatory glass shavings, a few bark chips, a smashed up syringe and a handful of propagation sand per 50L bag because "minerals".

If I want top soil I go dig a hole. We have a very dark timber clay/loam they call it. Mixed with yellow sand as you go down and if you go deep enough it turns to blue clay. Comes from all the native Hickory, Oak and Cherry trees here over the centuries.

I was digging a new flower bed and every shovel had like 5 and a half worms in it (I was always cutting them in half)

All we can do is too emulate nature. I've done it pretty good. I've been using earthworm castings replacing the Silt, Also Bentonite Clay, and silica sand. Equal parts of each. My Topsoil. Still wish I could have y'all's Topsoil
