Training techniques and effect on sex

Whats up everyone did a lot of research on this subject and no definitive answer. Does super-cropping, fim, topping etc cause stress on the plant to sway its sex to male? I read some articles on when is sex determined. I got it is predetermined in seed but can be hermied to its not decided until the light flips to 12/12. Is their any hard data on when sex is determined or is it still smoke and mirrors of science?

I am seriously considering super-cropping for height management in veg. I just don't want to stress a plant to cause it to become male or hermie since it is a high stress technique. So do you supercrop before you have determined sex?

Thanks for any and all help ahead of time bongsmilie

No. You can't change a plants genetics by stressing it with training, but you can stress it to the point that it will make make pollen sacs as well as an emergency resort to set seed. As long as you don't do damage to the plant during flowering, you can pretty much butcher it opas much aspnd as many times as you want in veg so lo as you let it grow male leaves before flowering.

I was wondering this exact thing... Had to cull a male the other day and been bending my plants like crazy so wondering if it could have anything to do with seeing pollen sacs.

Also what if you pop the sac, it gets on your fingers (pollen) and then you go and bend your other plants without cleaning your hands?

Could this happen without noticing or do the sacs become quite noticable before male pollen forms?

Personally I think "stress" is overblown with MJ.

Does your grass stress when you mow it, or shrubs stress when you prune them?

Plants are going to just keep on growing, just growing in a different fashion after you do your training.

I've had plants stressed by utility line trimmers, and a pack of ATV's, and thousands of deer and I'll just say they will be fine whatever bending topping and training you feel like doing.

(horses and goats a different story)

They wouldn't be so small that you couldnt see it but you might miss one just because its the same color as everything else and surrounded by leaves lol. Shouldnt be too much of a problem popping them without knowing, but if you do get pollen on your hands, or even just work with a plant you know has pollen sacs on it already, your best bet is to wash your hands off. Moisture messes up the pollen.

Yea think from my experiences that the sex is predetermined from seed. Normally I lst the hell outta my plants from start to finish. No boys. Npw lately ive been running 2 grows of 12 all og strains. I haven't lstd all of them. The ones that are growing vertical with no stress at all it seems like I been popping more boys. Also u can tell a boy esp after a couple days of 12/12 observe the stretch on that fella just to overpass the ladies. Also I think not proven fact 100% that another early detected of a fem is all the extra branching that occurs once a plants root system has grown big enough to fill its pot. As a lady the plant knows it needs extra.strong branches to support bud and seed structure. Males dont need that. They need height and a few nodes to hang balls off.

So really all I think you can really do is alter the seed/plant w/ outside help such as collidial silver(not sure on spelling). Hope I helped at all. Everyday is a new learning experience
