Hi guys, I recently joined this forum as I'm going to grow my own weed from now on.
These is the info (my plans):
- As for now, I got 10 auto-flowering seeds from a friend. These seed have an estimated life-cycle of 2 months. (seed -> harvest)
These seeds are hybrids with dominating sativa. They grow very fast and you could sex them at 3 weeks old because they will start
to flower from then on.
- The seeds are a self-created hybrid mix. (created by the dude from whom I got them )
- I'm planning to grow them outdoors as that's the best option (that' what the guy said, he does it too).
- I will buy univeral soil to plant them in after they are germinated. I will buy N-nutrients as well (will apply it after 4 weeks...this is advice from the guy as well.
- Ph intruments etc will come after my first grow as I'm advised not to be concerned about that for now...
- I will buy some of those little clay-hydro-whatever balls too to give my soil some air and good drainage (top layer and bottom layer)
- Oh yeah, I will grow them OUTOORS. It's june now, I know it's a bit late but in my country the season was very shitty till now so it was not really possible to plant them due to shitty weather
summer can last untill september-october here
- I would like 3 female plants as an outcome
Now my problem is as follows: My seeds are not feminised. This being said, theoretically, the odds of getting a female should be 1/2.
I want to plant my 10 seeds in like 1 gallon pots untill they are like 3 weeks old and ready to be sexed. After that, I would like to transplant them in bigger pots as from then on...I know which ones are the (strong) females, so I will use less soil as when I would plant them all straight in 3-4 gallon pots.
Now, from what I've read, I can conclude that auto-flowers are not really capable of overcoming the transplant needed at 3 weeks of age. I have repeatably read as well, that when you use the same soil in the second pot...there's not real shock for the plant as the shock is due to adaption to other soil.
A better solution would be, if posible, to sex the plant EARLIER so i can plant them straight in their final pots. Well, to understand this, take the time to read number 10 of this link: http://www.ilovegrowingmarijuana.com/10-interesting-facts-about-growing-marijuana/
If this is correct, it would make things A LOT easier
is this reliable, thoughts?
Another solution lies at number 9 of this link: http://growersguidetocannabis.com/10-top-tips-for-autoflowering-plants-a-better-yield/
study the drawing: would this be an easier solution to transplant the female plants into their final pots? (this would make the 'shock' smaller?)
Anyways, what would you recommend me to do? I won't plant my 10 seeds in 3 gallon pots, only to remove tha males later on...it takes too much space and soil
P.S.: I would like to mix the hydro-clay-ball-thingies with the soil in the FINAL pot, not in the first one. I hope it wouldn't be a problem if i had a center of normal soil (from the first pot) planted in a big pot of soil mixed with thoise hydro-balls.
Answer/solutions greatly appreciated guys!
