Transplant Auto 1Gal. to 3Gal.

I would like to thank you all for being informative and constructive. I learned a lot here!
Now my question;
Im growing Autos for the first time. I did a mistake to plant them into 1 gal pots to keep the girls short.
Now i changed my mind, because Im worried about the yield Ill get in 1 gal pots. So would you repot them into 3 gal pots and take the transplant shock or better leave them in 1 gals?

Take necessary precautions not to shock them.. I normally wouldn't go this far but for this special circumstance here is what you can do...

Limit light exposure.. when transplanting keep the room dimly lit or at least limit direct light exposure from sun or HID or powerful LED. After the transplant... don't put the plant(s) under strong light for the first 24 hours.

Make sure your new media is wet to ensure your plant has access to water.

Don't damage the root ball when transplanting.. normally you might want to break up the roots a little to stimulate growth but in your special case I would say don't bother the roots.. Keep the roots as undamaged as possible. Eventually they will fill out the new pot.

This strain is going from seed to harvest in 8-9 Weeks,so estimated they ll start flower in 2 weeks. I really hope 2 weeks are enough to recover. Unfortunately i cant dimm the light but I can increase the distance to the led.

I had this same situation and decided to keep the smaller pot.

Finished my auto widow with two and a half months of veg time and two and a half months of flower in a 1 gallon pot. I didn't think I could transfer her gently enough.

I'd like to see someone attempt the transplant. Hope it works out for you.

With smaller pots, your nutrient regiment has to be spot on and will be less forgiving than in a bigger pot, mainly because after awhile, its just a mass of roots.
I transplanted a plant near flowering from a 2 gal into a 5 gallon pot with absolutely no shock whatsoever. Just be gentle and have the new soil the same as the present one. I wetted the soil in the smaller pot first, then cut down on two sides of the container with a utility knife, spread the planter apart and lifted out the whole thing and gently placed it into the soil filled bigger pot. The plant kept growing as usual and didn't notice any difference.

1 gallon grow bags work fine for autos ( if personal use ) @HighLowGrow runs the BKR this way and gets great plants. Most autos have limited veg time and sometimes don't even root a container completely. I go up to 3 gallon airpots , thus ensuring full pot rooting. Grew in 5 gallon buckets but ended up with a lightly used bottom layer at harvest.

You are correct about " no time to recover " as autos are on a mission to end their life within 90 days - take breeder harvest times with a grain of salt as most getter better running past time ( trich maturity ). So called 8 week strains go to day 77 or later sometimes.

im using smart pots, i decided to go for the middle option. i will remove the bottoms of the pots and put them on 3 gal. I red yesterday,someone did the experiment and put smartpot into bigger one, as result the roots went trough it. So maybe this is the best way.
