Transplanting Autos - Redux

Seedling stage is when a lot of new growers seem to have difficulty. Just posting this here to show how simple caring for seedlings and transplanting them really is.

I start off in a solo cup with a mild soil like FF Light Warrior, or Biobiz Lite Mix. These sit under a 40 watt cfl for 7 days. I keep the bulb at about 8" away to stop the seedlings from becoming too leggy. At 7 days they go into a 3 gallon grow bag of FFOF lightly watered and mixed so that all the soil is moist but net drenched. I just water a little around the roots every few days. Overwatering at this point makes it hard for the roots to stretch out.

The photo at the very bottom is 15 days from sprout and 8 days since transplant. The two at the back and one to the right are Roc Bud PBE. In the middle is 3 Bears OG. I tore some of the roots of the 3BOG during transplant but she seems fine, maybe a day or two behind the rest. The far left is a Passion Punch.

I hope this helps take the mystery of of transplanting for some of you.

I do everything from seedling through veg with my main lights. I find the seedlings do really well under my main veg led light, just kept lower than the bigger girls. Autos get direct to soil germination. Like you, I’ve never got the fear of transplanting, I’ve yet to have shock or really even stress from it.

I think another thing people do when they transplant is overwatering. Yours look just right.

I may use various containers to start. Everything from 18oz Solo Cups- Uline 32oz Soup Containers. $130 for 500.....Though they cost more for initial investment, they are also reusable, and tough. 500 is minimum order. $100 + $30 Shipping roughly.

I veg with 1000w Hortilux HPS at 24in, or Gavita 1700e at 24in. I use the Gaviaa the same way as I do the 1000w Hortilux HPS in a 4 x 4 I transplant when the first serrated leaves reach the width of the container. 78f-84f temps 55%-70% humidity as best I can.
I transplant the same way you do.
I slightly wet the cup before, and let it sit 5 minutes. I also give them their normal feeding at this time... I will rough up the roots if they are growing around, and around the container, but try and be careful and not damage them.

Why not start the sprout directly in the pot? What are the advantages of transplanting?
I understand why nurseries transplant but why weed?
