transplanting in a different soil safe?

You mean replacing all of your soil/medium? It can be done, but will be stressful for your plants and could cause problems.

you shouldn't have too much difficulty. if possible, mix a little of the old soil into the hole where you plan to put the plant. this will act as a "buffer Zone" so to say so that your roots don't get shocked by a new environment. Also, if using nutes, cut back to half strength for the transplant period. and, nitrogen inhibits root growth so lay off for two weeks while the roots spread out.

1st timer had to ask. one more thing while im thinking about it. with the mg time release do you have to worry about adding any kind of ph or any nutes?

Time release ferts are not widely used for indoor marijuana, one shot deal that can cause all sorts of problems if you add too much as there's no room for flushing if need be as that will just release more fert into the system.
