pm spores are in the air they are everywhere all they need is the right conditions to get going so use something like Actiovate http://www.johnnyseeds.com/organic/organic-supplies/actinovate---2-oz.-9804.html?cgid=organic-supplies#sz=18&start=19 to prevent it.
Thanks. I am currently using em1 which is a benificial bacteria. Also looks like its much less expensive than actinovate, by about 30 times. Em1 is a lacto bacillus, maybe actinovate is different.
Are you suggesting i use it in the soil?

Still a question. Will spores survive on soil? Can they spread that way ?even if soil is mixed or composted.?

yes even in the soil. em1 isn't enough to protect from pm. actinovate or a like alternative is well worth the price compared to losing your crop.
I have to spray 2 or 3 times a week and one strain still gets a little pm. I think i will lose dankness for sure already. But i am breading and mybe i will make hash.. whats in actinovate? You've used both? It's to expensive compared to buying fresh weed and starting over vs 20 x 8 plus what i already am spending and have spent. I am going to start over . Pm sucks
So you think if i treat my soil with acti (how many times) that i can use the soil in a new grow?

Actinovate is a mix of beneficial bacteria/fungi that kill bad molds and it is organic, you spray the plant and water it in at the beginning then every couple weeks to be sure, check this stuff out for getting rid of pm even on flowering plants http://www.dazeys.com/blog/trifecta/

What are you doing/spraying to prevent PM .....also it's like mentioned above ..given the rite environment it will flourish .......I use cold pressed neem to prevent pm ...obviously not deep into flower/harvest time .....and I've had great results .....my go to sprays are cold pressed neem , azamax, and a lil drop of soap ......what are you spraying on the PM ?

em1 lacto bacteria (purchased product but can make from milk ) about twice a week.
i had a couple threads and read some more on pm... i have some neem , i mixed a little with a drop of soap and a little aloe tryed and didn't like the smell . it didn't work wonders and is more for bugs n u can't use it in the last weeks.
before that i used a drop of soap in water which would work for a day or 2 only then i used some k bicarb that burned my plants and only halted the pm for a couple days didn't eliminate or wash off anything just killed it so when i switched to em1 the buds where mostly ruined .
the em1 works the longest and more totally then anything i know but i am very much fighting it . i miss a spot or a day of spraying and i see white on the weaker strain.
also feeding silica but not spraying it helps and i am. i bet if i let it go a month it will be white as fuck in there. i am done with fighting pm the only cures are a sulfur burn or starting over after deep cleaning.

get the air moving and the rH down, way down, both night and day . This is the big thing that will help you . Dirt shouldn't be a big issue however if I ever have a problem, I would hate to risk a relapse over 30 $ of dirt. If you cann't replace the dirt easy for what ever reason, it shouldn't be the end of the world. The medicine I would use to get rid of PM is burning sulfer. One more thing , you have a too much moisture problem stop spraying your plants.

it's more like 300$ of dirt. the rh is about 40-60 swing i spray when it's low it doesn't faze the rh. i have air moving alot , 6 fans in the 2 rooms and a filter out at 500 -700 keeping negative pressure . the extra air flow does help but the trouble is pm will thrive in the same conditions as cannabis. (even in dry conditions)as for the sulfur burn ; i would but it's in my bed room with carpet in a rental so not an option. only thing left to do is clean and start over.

Depending on how much soil your talking about ....I'd imagine using the same steps to sterilize new compost when using manure would work ........your absolutely rite ....the brand of cold pressed neem I use is a preventative for PM ....it's bayer brand cold pressed and I actually get it from HD ....havnt had issues since I've been using it ......I just mentioned the aza because those are the three things I use to prevent issues as a whole ........the other thing people have been talking about is h20 spray ....some swear by it ..........I can find the thread if you'd like to read on it .......seems like moisture issues .......

Sorry didn't see this post .....as far as I know and have read .....PM is associated with certain plants themselves/tissue ....

yeah but the spores can be transfered off of the walls and clothing . so my guess is it stays on the soil at least for a time. i don't know if natural soil conditions will kill it or if i can treat the soil. it would save me some effort and cash and some of the soil mixes are not sourced responsibly so i want to conserve.

I see your point/concern ....I'm actually pretty curious about this myself now ........i see people doing the h2o2 dip on harvested plants with PM .....I personally just toss anything like that in the bin in previous years ....still would honestly ........good points and I see your concern/struggle on the topic ........I guess another question would be how long do the spores stay viable in/on a material/surface that's not conducive to their growth .......il be watching and reading myself now

I honestly think it's everywhere :(, I have strains that never get it (outdoors) and have grown others that are covered so I tend to stop using those. I have never had it indoors touch wood. My veggy garden zucchini get it every year and I spray with milk and baking soda that seems to knock it down but not out.
