Trichome Color and Flowering Time

I recently chopped down a BFS Wedding Cake at 8.5 weeks of Flower. Breeder suggests 8-9 weeks flowering period. I chopped because the trichomes were around 20% amber and the pistils were all brown and shrinking back into the bud. I noticed my main tops produced good buds but obviously got airy the further down the plant I went. Ended up leaving all the larf to mature more for another 2 weeks (she’s still growing and will be chopped this weekend). As far as appearance the plant showed all the signs of being harvestable.. however my question is this.. had I waited day another 2 weeks to run it all the way to 10 weeks of harvest, would my tops buds have been more dense without too much degrading of the trichomes. I have another seed that I’m going to run and will experiment more during that run but would like some questions answered earlier than I can produce on the next run. Thanks!

Breeder estimates are just that …. estimates.

Your grow , skill , environment , lighting etc. will dictate how long plant will take. Most times they are bullshit marketing hype . Even if they grew them under that timeline , it was under optimal conditions to work out strain or it was just to get you to buy more stock.

Run them as long as they need …. Always .
No matter what label says.

I am currently finishing up a Dinafem California Hash Plant, breeders specs say 45-50 but it is going to end up finishing at 70-71 days.

I understand that not everyone flushes their plants, but I often begin flushing around the time that the breeders specifications say to harvest.
