I'm at the end of my first grow, and just now figured out how to use my little pocket scope to view trichomes on my ladies (six G13 Haze, ebb/flood, Hydroton, 1000W HPS, etc, ten weeks into flower).
Great jumpin Jehoshaphat!!! I discovered a vast plain of trichomes, like a never-ending forest! And, Oh, Baby! they're beautiful. My dumb luck, they're about 10% clear, 70% cloudy, 20% amber. There are also some immature ones, clear but with almost no mushroom head.
Shit Fire!!! First time I've seen that classic picture of trichomes on my own, lovingly-grown ladies!!
So anyway, I killed the light, replaced the nutes in the reservoir with ph'd water and ran a 30-minute flood. Replaced the contents of the reservoir again and put the pump back on 3x/day, 15 minutes. The plants are in Grodan blocks, embedded in Hydroton, so the flush moves through them pretty efficiently.
Big question: How long to run this dark-cycle, plain-water regime before I cut? 24 hours? 48? 72? I'm excited, but I sure don't want to stumble while crossing the finish line.
Many thanks to all the brethren who helped me through the dozens of crises, real and imagined, that this first grow spawned. Much love to all!!!!
