Assume conditions are optimal which they pretty much are. What's the average length of time, or does it vary that much from strain alone?

Yes, no one is going to be able to tell how fast your trichs will go from clear to cloudy. It's essentially the same thing as asking when it will be done

Your thinking to specific. Take 100 plants for example all flowering at the same time, are you telling me it's so random there won't be a average!

It's strain dependent no one can answer that for you. Sure, if you took 100 plants of the same strain they may all finish AROUND the same time, but if you took 100 plants of different strains they'd all finish roughly at different times depending on strain. Do some research my friend

OK buddy I see your point.

Most growers grow buds, I like to grow trics and I am a breeder that specifically breeds for the rare early translucent amber tric that most growers do not even know about

I get cloudy and amber trics on seedlings

so please tell me how you would ever be able to declare an average time for anything involving multiple strains ?
.clic the pic to zoom it

Most breeders say 60-65 days. Which doesn't help you at all. How late is so late into flowering?

72 days so far and also if I can't know when trichomes can change how do I know when to stop giving nutrients ?
