trick to get Gdp to purple up?

Cooler temps may “ express “ that trait , but if plant is going to show it it will do it on its own.

My honest answer is keep your plant healthy and happy and if it’s got the purple trait it will show.
if it hasn’t then Selective nutrient Usage or colder temps towards the end of flowering can help to bring out purples but I never try to bring them out.
I only ever grow a plant looking to keep it as healthy as possible the entire grow.

Some GDP plants stay mostly green. I recently grew one that was like that, although it did have a little bit of purple on the flowers.
I'd second what @jondamon said above. Keep your plant healthy and happy. That's the most important thing. I've had strains that go purple, regardless of temps, and I've had plants that only go purple or even black when they were grown in colder temps.

if its kens GDP it will purple up on its own the last 2/3 weeks mine grew green till late in flower, wait for it its worth it

yep i experienced this with my first heavy purple strain recently. Didnt really start any purple until the last month at least.

purpling is just a result of anthocyanins, which are not cannabinoids and are not psychoactive - it's purely eye candy, so it blows me away some people are actually willing to pay extra for purple buds!

all 3 of my "GDP" from the 'Tude turned purple at like 2nd week of the light cycle flip. They did it all on their own and I didn't really feed them anything or have any cold nights etc. It doesn't smell like the GDP we used to buy in Cali, but still pretty nice flowers. Idk if this helps, but it seems like some strains totally do it on their own.

food coloring, just dunk them in purple food coloring after drying and then dry them again.
just jokes... but to be honest, Ive grown dark purple buds and the market appeal is less than frosty green/white.
purple sounds good in theory, but in the bag not so much, and people are turned off as if there is something wrong with the product.

Cold temps just make the leaves turn purple. If the buds are going to turn purple which is what matters they'll do it on their own and still have green leaves.
Some strains have natural coloring in the leaves that doesn't require cold or any other tricks to bring it out.

First picture is an ACE Congo about 9 weeks flower.
Second is an ACE Pakistani Chitral Kush.
Third Is an ACE Pakistani Chitral Kush.
Fourth is a Pakistani Chitral Kush + Durban F3.
Never grown In Humboldt I'm in Oregon. Although I was smoking Humboldt County weed back in the 80's.

I completely disagree. Anthocyanins are hypothesized to have a synergistic effect with phospholipids and terpenes. Anthocyanins are also a well
known antioxidants. All of which coupled with the medicinal value of THC, CBD and typically higher levels of CBV in those "cosmetic bullshit plants".
I am lucky enough to have genuine ken estes GDP seeds that I have bred through to F4.
GDP is absolutely the most medicinal cannabis I have ever grown. I am trying to bring her back to true breed and then I will be crossing her into my 1:1 CBD and 1:20.
Temp changes should not be required if it is Ken Estes GDP.
